SOOC Saturday {Aug 7}

I am entering a new challenge this week. Straight out of camera (SOOC for short) saturdays.
I've been shooting on full manual for awhile now, but still have a lot to learn, and I'm excited that when October comes, I'll be starting a new Professional Photography program through the NYIP.

I took this photo yesterday right after a nice rainstorm. We have some beautiful flowers planted around the house, these purple ones captured the waterdrops so perfectly.
If I was to fix the photo, I would just add some warmth and bump the curves and thats it. Its a great shot. I'm very pleased with myself it turned out without having to edit =)

Nature - Snowy Range Mtns

Wow I can't believe its been over a week and I haven't posted anything on here in awhile. I've been focusing on myself and have put blogging aside a bit. Today was the start of my summer class. Its 3hrs per day, 5 days per week for 3 weeks straight so I may not be on here as much as I want to but I will atleast post my assignments!! We have a bunch of them so this will give me more opportunities to get out there and take photos.

Plus Wed I have a maternity session I'm super excited about!! And fri or sat a family session!!

And I wanted to get some feedback on this photo I took. I did 4 edits and want to know what you think.
What you like? dislike? should change? Favorite edit? etc?

I'm actually considering selling this print as part of my fine art collection. I'm still working on getting my photos together because I do want to sell some of my work.

You Capture - Spring [quack quack]

Photobucket

Its been awhile since I've linked up to a You capture challenge.
I should be taking photos everyday but you know...life gets in the way...so I haven't had the opportunity.
But today I was out of town...and saw these cute little ducks...There were a few but this one duck just wasn't shy. Wanted me to feed him..or her...A perfect poser!

PW Photo Challenge - Landscapes

Another photo challenge from the Pioneer Woman. This time its Landscapes. While my selection is limited, I was able to find this gorgeous photo I took while we were visiting maui hawaii 3 years ago.

Yes the photo isn't the best because at the time I only had my handy dandy p&s!

Wyoming Wednesday - The moon

Ok so this photo can really be taken anywhere, not just Wyoming but I was bored, and took a picture of the moon with my 50mm. Definitely not the best photo because its not a telephoto lens, but I kind of like it. Being able to see the moon at 5p on a beautiful day.

And I can't forget our border collie, Cleatus. We adopted him from a rescue in Saratoga, WY. We've had him 2 months and love him very much. He was abused which is something we are working on everyday to get him comfortable with us.

I live in Laramie, Wyoming. We get snow 8 or more months out of the year. This last year it snowed in August and September!!
I have a passion for photography. I have loved it longer than I can remember but just until my wedding in 2009 (which the photographer completely bombed and did the worst job ever) and after numerous people have told me that I would make a great photographer did I actually think that would be something I could actually accomplish. Photography is art. I have been in love with art since I was little. I always knew I would incorporate art into a career one way or another and I'm so happy that photography has found a HUGE home in my heart, mind, and as a creative outlet.
I currently attend the University of Wyoming where I'm majoring in Graphic Design. I have many many years left because I have been on and off since 2007 and have not gone fulltime at all since I started. And after having my son in 2009 I took a couple semesters off. But my #1 goal is to graduate from college!! I will do it and I know I can do it. The journey has not been easy at all so far but when I do accomplish this I will be very proud of myself!!

Wyoming Wednesday #1

Sorry I'm a couple days behind on my Wyoming Wednesday, but life happens and we get busy, so here is this weeks find.

Just around the corner from my house is a field, with cattails. Until just a couple days ago I didn't realize there was a section of them. Here is the beauty I captured.

You capture - Quiet

This weeks challenge at You capture is Quiet.

#1
The laramie greenbelt. So quiet, and peaceful. Winter also marks a time for quiet. The trees are dead with no life in them. These walks are my favorite. Away from all the noise and cayous. No musical toys, no babies crying, no phone ringing, just the quiet, fresh, Wyoming air.

#2
The quiet dead trees that have no leaves, and are just waiting for the warm weather to bring them back to life!

#3
The field of straw and snow. Another beauty of a quiet afternoon walk.

You Capture - Shapes

As always I'm delayed in my posts. This weeks theme is shapes. This was a fun challenge. I found a couple photos that I had taken recently but also went out and took some photos yesterday not knowing that one of them would be perfect for this weeks challenge.

Photobucket

#1
Bubbles from doing dishes make the perfect shapes. Sometimes things right under you nose might surprise you. I really like this photo.

#2
Jellybeans. Who doesn't love those? Yum. These were the favors I threw together for my baby shower last year. I just found the left over ones and though this would make a great photo.
Speaking of Jellybeans does anyone watch unwrapped? I watched how they get all that flavor into those little tiny beans. 7 day process! and over 14 for the sour ones.

#3
To be honest, I don't even know that this stuff is called. But I love the texture and shapes. Its everywhere here in Wyoming.

Check out the other shapes for this weeks challenge over at you capture! Hope you liked them.
